Iron Fist Season 1 Review!
The last Defender arrives and now it is time to review the last Marvel Netflix until the Defenders. Can't wait to see the Defenders.
Story:
So Iron Fist is the latest show on Netflix that takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It follows Danny Rand. A man who was in a plane crash as a child and was the sole Survivor. He was found by Monks and brought to Cun-Lun where he was trained for 15 years to become the Iron Fist. 15 years later Danny has returned home to stop the dreaded group known as the Hand. And this show has been getting a lot of shit. A lot of reviews are saying this show is bad, or racist. And In all honesty I disagree with that. This is my favourite Marvel Netflix show since Daredevil. I like it more then a bit more then Jessica Jones, but I love it a lot more then Luke Cage. Maybe that's an unpopular opinion I don't care I had a blast watching Iron Fist. A lot of reviews were complaining about the business element in the show despite the fact that it is in the trailer. I knew that the business element was going to be a big part of the story because this isn't Batman Begins. Danny can't just go up to his company and be like "hey I'm back give me control over the company." Obviously people think he's crazy. I know I would. And I did enjoy the whole him trying to get his business back story. I thought it was handled really well. Danny's company was needed in the show because he needs a way of getting information. He's not Daredevil he can't just bust open a file on something. He's not Jessica Jones he's not a Private Eye. And he's not Luke Cage an invincible man who can't get shot. Danny is a guy who is vulnerable and can't just go out like those other heroes. He has assets that he uses and I love that. And also the action was awesome. When Danny uses his Iron Fist powers it is badass. With the exception of an elevator fight scene that looks like a phone call from 24. Other then that scene the rest of the action was absurdly entertaining.
Characters:
I'm not going to lie I don't know a lot about Iron Fist. The only thing I know about him is that he's super chill and doesn't use violence unless he has to. Which for the most part is how he is in this show. He doesn't use his Iron Fist power all the time in fact he barely uses it in the show. Which I know a lot of people are going to be pissed at but it makes sense because he relies on his other fighting skills other then the Fist. And all of the side characters with the exception of Ward I liked.they were likeable the villain was great because for the majority of the show you don't actually know if he's a bad guy or not. I just loved a lot of the characters. Especially Claire. Claire is awesome. I don't know how she keeps running into these wacky characters but she does and her reaction every time she meets a new one is pretty funny.
Acting:
Now I've read a lot of reviews calling this show racist because it's white washing which I don't really see. If the Hand is Asian in the comics and they turn the Hand white in the show then yeah I can see what they're talking about. But they don't do that and here's my perspective on this whole whitewashing thing. Now the movie the Great Wall got a lot of heat for casting Matt Damon to be the main character in a movie where pretty much everyone else is Chinese. But you have to look at it like this. If the main character in that movie was black or Spanish no one would care. And I'm not trying to start anything I'm just saying when people accuse this show of being racist it's stupid. It's not really racist if they're following the comic book characters origins. And if that's the case maybe the comics are racist I don't know. But to accuse a show like this of being racist despite the fact that that it is simply doing what an adaptation should do which is follow the source material I think is ridiculous. And also I don't think when they cast people in shows or movie they really care about race it's their acting ability. And I thought Finn Jones was really well cast as Danny Rand. He has charisma and he's talented we know that from Game Of Thrones. He just plays this character really well. I was excited when I heard he was cast as Iron Fist and I will say that I was not disappointed. And that's only Finn Jones. The rest of the actors were really good as well. Rosario Dawson, Jessica Stroup, Faramir from Lord Of The Rings. I don't know the dudes name but he's awesome in this show.
Final Verdict:
Guys I don't get all the hate behind this show. I enjoyed the living shot out of it and I think if you go into the show with the right mindset and know that the business element is a big part of the show then you can enjoy it. I'm going to give Iron Fist a 9.5/10.
